Prosthodontics is one of 9 certified dental specialties of the American Dental Association. Prosthodontists receive 3 additional years of training beyond dental school. The prosthetic specialist’s focus is to replace or repair damaged teeth, restore proper function such as speech and chewing, and to enhance one’s personal appearance. These goals are attained through the use of crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and cosmetic veneers.
